Artist's Description

Liliuokalani Gardens is located in the town of Hilo, Hawaii. The park is named for the last of Hawaii's reigning monarchs, Queen Liliuokalani, who donated the land upon which the gardens were created. A primary feature of the park is an authentic Japanese garden. The garden was created in the early 1900's to memorialize Japanese immigrants who came to work on the local sugar plantations. This image is rendered in black and white to capture the peace and tranquility that one feels when visiting this remarkable park.
