Artist's Description

The Mill Creek Bridge was completed in 1907. It crosses Mill Creek, southwest of the town of Tangier. It is a single span, Burr-arch Truss structure.

The Mill Creek Bridge is also known as Thompsons Ford Bridge, Tow Path Bridge, or Earl Ray Bridge. The bridge site was called Thompsons Ford when it was built. The Wabash & Erie Canal was close, thus leading to the name Tow Path Bridge. Earl Ray was a prominent citizen and well-known auctioneer who lived near the bridge site.
