Description
The Jackson Bridge is also known as the Rockport Bridge and Wright's Mill Bridge. It is located near the former industrial hamlet of Rockport Mills, northwest of Bloomingdale, Indiana. The bridge was built by Joseph J. Daniels in 1861 and is the oldest remaining one built by him. It is a single span, double Burr-arch Truss structure built on a base of hewn stone. It holds the distinction as the longest single-span covered bridge in Indiana and the longest single-span, wood truss bridge that still carries vehicular traffic in the United States.
